The NPD Group has released the sales figures for the month of September 2018. And, Marvel’s Spider-Man conquers the top spot. However, a lot of fans are wondering if Square Enix‘s Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age is doing well in the US Market. Need not to worry, folks, because we have great news for you especially if you love the Dragon Quest franchise.
Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age is the biggest launch month in franchise history with dollar sales more than double the previous best, Dragon Quest IX. This info was announced by Mat Piscatella of NPD Group on his Twitter account.

We get to see the sales for Dragon Quest XI to perform well to have more localization of the Dragon Quest franchise in the near future. This is a good start for the franchise and a good response from you folks. Well, we have to wait and see.

This is good for the Dragon Quest developers and XI is a fantastic game. Easily the best in the series and the pinnacle of what the studio has achieved. Even though this success will provide us with future titles that will no doubt be great, do not expect anything to ever measure up to XI.
As you may know, this title was the culmination of all the original creators and developers of the Dragon Quest series with the likes of Yuji Hori, Akira Toriyama, and Koichi Sugiyama. These fellows are all at, or past, retirement age (Sugiyama is in his 80’s!). That will mean these professionals will never come together to make another entry in the Dragon Quest series, let alone another video game.
So even though future Dragon Quest titles will be bigger or more expansive or innovative, none will ever come close to the masterpiece that XI is. Enjoy this one, folks, it’s the last of the best classic games you will ever find. Gaming as a whole is being ushered into a Dark Age, and I am happy to go out with a bang.
