The game is about the afterlife of the Metropolis due to the strike of the devastating earthquake. The City slowly get its life back to place and everything just seemed normal again. What the inhabitants do not know is that they are not alone anymore. The earthquake that originally destroyed Tokyo was caused by the emergence of a peculiar and deadly shadow world known as Xanadu.
The game takes place in a fictional area of Tokyo called Morimaya City. You will experience a feeling of a suburb-modern day fantasy and you will notice the engagement of the game with our technology nowadays because it contains modern elements like smartphones and social media.

In Tokyo Xanadu, you take the role of a high school student named Kou, the main character of the game. Kou accidentally becomes involved with the parallel world which can only be accessed through gates and can only be seen by certain people. His old friend Asuka who seems to be quite familiar with this parallel world is later on revealed to be a part of the mysterious organization called the “Nemesis” that protects the real world from the monsters of the parallel world. When you get to certain points of the story, Kou will be swallowed into one of these gates and Tokyo Xanadu will transform into an action game.
