E3 2018 Vs. E3 2017
It’s time for a throwback!
The world biggest gaming expo of the year has finally come to an end. What a journey it has been for E3 2018. Gamers were bombarded with tons of gameplay reveals, unexpected announcements and loads of teasers were rolled out in the event. But that’s all in a good way.
While we look forward to all the exciting upcoming games this year and beyond, let’s have a quick throwback on how this year’s E3 compared to last year’s show.
EA
The first Publisher to stood up on this year’s E3 is Electronic Arts (EA). EA did a straightforward way to begin this year. A compilation of teasers was first shown at the event followed by a 3D emergence of a gigantic creature from Anthem on screen. Highly anticipated games were unveiled, never before seen teasers disclosed, and a bunch of exciting news was uncovered. EA’s highlights of this year are:
- Battlefield V – Multiplayer will add up Battle Royale Mode
- Anthem – Story, Release Date, and Multiplayer Details
- Unravel Two – Release Date
- FIFA 19 – Release Date
- Star Wars Battlefront II – Features
While at last year’s E3, we can say that they also did a good job. They also gave out a similar positive trend with loads of upcoming games and new announcements. But not as much as this year. Last year’s highlights were:
- A Way Out – Splitscreen mode
- Anthem – Teaser as their next project
- Madden NFL 18 – First story mode
Microsoft
If we were to rate Microsoft’s Press Conference this year, it would be a perfect 10. Aside from the most awaited games, The head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, surprised everyone in his one big revelation. And it is the five new Development Teams that will be joining the Microsoft Studios. The crowd goes wild as the name of each company were unveiled. And they are:
We’re definitely sure that you are all thrilled to see more great upcoming games from these impeccable developers. Microsoft beat its 2017 show with the 50 games revealed this year out of the 45 titles from last year. The publisher also announced over a dozen Exclusive games. Plus, they have also revealed some great news about the Xbox Game Pass.

- Halo Infinite – First look at the official announcement trailer
- Fallout 76 – World Premiere
- The Adventures of Captain Spirit – Free game on Xbox Store
- Nier Automata – New trailer
- Kingdom Hearts III – Trailer
- Forza Horizon 4 – Dynamic Seasons in an open world
Last year’s highlights:
- Xbox One X – New console
- Forza Motorsport 7 – New footage
- Assassin’s Creed Origins – Trailer
- PlayerUnknown Battlegrounds – Making its console debut on Xbox One
- State of Decay 2 – Gameplay trailer
Bethesda
The number one ranked Publisher in the world never fails us every time they showed up at their E3 Press Conference. Since its establishment, Bethesda Game Studios has generally been involved in the production of RPGs. They are well-known for their famous works of big franchises such as The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, and Wolfenstein. And here are the comparisons from this year to last year’s event.

- Rage 2 – The Comeback. Extended gameplay trailer
- The Elder Scrolls: Legends – Relaunch of the digital card game. New features. Free game for PC, mobile, and tablet.
- The Elder Scrolls Online Summerset – New DLCs announced. Wolfhunter & Murkmire.
- The Elder Scrolls VI – In-development
- Starfield – The long-rumored “Starfield” has been confirmed as an upcoming game
- Prey – new modes
E3 2017 highlights:
- Fallout 4 VR – Release date
- Dishonored: Death of the Outsider – Release date
- The Evil Within 2 – Release date
- Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus
Square Enix
Many fans and spectators in the gaming community have eagerly been awaiting Square Enix’s presentation and announcements. Well, the hype certainly has built up after the first two days when Electronic Arts, Microsoft, and Bethesda took the spotlight.
However, the Press Conference for Square Enix this year didn’t reveal anything unexpected. A handful of announcements and trailers that we already know, which gamers were quick to pick up on. The Publisher just rolled up a compilation of gameplay and teasers, and that’s it.
Some of the games that were revealed this year are as follows:
- Shadow of the Tomb Raider
- Under the Moonlight
- Final Fantasy XIV x Monster Hunter World
- Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age
- Babylon’s Fall
And these are from the E3 2017 Square Enix Press Con:
- Dissidia Final Fantasy NT
- Life is Strange
- Final Fantasy XIV Online
- Final Fantasy XII
Ubisoft
One of the most-loved Publisher in the industry did a good job on their E3 Press Conference this year. They did a full swing of interesting upcoming games from the highly anticipates series, unexpected news and more. And for you to grasp the difference between last year’s and the E3 2018 show, here’s the list for you.
E3 2018 highlights:
- Assassin’s Creed Odyssey – The rumored game confirmation
- Just Dance 2019 – A Sick opening show for the game reveal
- Beyond Good and Evil 2 – New gameplay trailer and Pre-alpha footage
- Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege – New upcoming documentary titled, Another Mindset – An Esports Documentary.

E3 2017 highlights:
- Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle – Game reveal
- Beyond Good and Evil – New trailer
- Skulls and Bones – New multiplayer pirate game

Sony
PS4 fans might have been disappointed with the line-up of games that were packed in Sony’s E3 Press Conference this year. In comparison to its 30 games last year, they only cater 12 this year. Actually, Sony made an advance announcement that this year’s show will be low-key. But it was still surprising to see the highlights of the Publisher for this year. See the comparison below.

Nintendo
Nintendo delivered a similarly remarkable exhibit. Just like their usual Nintendo Direct videos, they delivered to the Nintendo fans what they have been hyped the most. Its 2017 show revealed 13 games with 8 new announcements while this year, they lifted the game’s roster for 20 announced games. The games that were unveiled this year consists of 7 previously-unseen titles and 3 new ports for the Nintendo Switch.
