For a brief background on the Japanese mythology, this embraces the traditions of Shinto and Buddhism. In Shinto, Kami (gods or spirits) are worshipped. Let’s see the correlation between the Japanese mythology and folklore to Okami: Zekkeiban.

Gameplay

The game sets in the classical era of Nippon (Japan). It begins one hundred years in the past based on Japanese folklore. The players control the great Japanese sun goddess, Amaterasu. She is in the body of a white wolf. The goddess is on the mission to defeat Orochi, an eight-headed demon and monster responsible for making the world a dark void. To stop Orochi’s evil dealings, you must use Amaterasu’s magical abilities and items to restore Nippon’s beautiful glory full of color and life. Along the journey, the Japanese goddess will help some characters in the game to defeat the cruel enemies to clear the land from Orochi’s curse.
