Sega has announced that it will remaster the Yakuza 3, 4, and 5 for the PlayStation 4. Gematsu discovered the news in Japanese magazines Dengeki PlayStation and Weekly Famitsu. The Japanese magazines featured an online preview of the Yakuza 3.

When these remastered versions were announced, fans of the series were praying for some extra content in the game. Whether it may be extra scenes or just some additional options in the game. Unfortunately, the remasters won’t include any additional content, according to SEGA’s chief creative officer, Toshihiro Nagoshi. But, the game will run in 1080p resolution and at 60 frames per second.
Furthermore, Nagoshi revealed that the remasters will be dedicated primarily to the new overseas fans of the game who didn’t get the opportunity to experience the games originally.
What triggered the company to remaster Yakuza 3, 4, and 5 is when Yakuza 0 and Yakuza 6: The Song of Life was released.
After Yakuza 0 was released, the franchise had a sort of reawakening outside of Japan. And more especially when the Yakuza 6: The Song of Life sell extremely well. With this, it really made sense to introduce the older games of the series to the world.
The remastered versions of the game will kick off with Yakuza 3 on August 9 in Japan. Yakuza 4 is expected to arrive this Fall and Yakuza 5 is slated for a Spring 2019 release.

No western release has been announced yet. But Nagoshi said that remasters are intended for new overseas fans, the possibility is strong. And since the popularity of the franchise has increased quite dramatically outside of Japan, it is safe to say that it is going to happen. The only question now is, when? Stay tuned, folks.
