This is one of Square Enix‘s cult-classic video game that first appeared on Nintendo DS. Now, the game is finally coming in re-release for Nintendo Switch.

The game sets in the fictional version of Shibuya, the renowned shopping district in Tokyo, Japan. Life goes on in the Realground (RG), and the dead are brought to an alternative place of existence called the Underground (UG). You follow the story of Neku Sakuraba as he wakes in the busy intersection without any memory on how he died. Now, he and his partner must fight to survive in a life-or-death game in this twisted world and the urban labyrinth of Tokyo. In the place of chaos, the players of Reapers’ Game must complete the daily mission or face total erasure.
The Switch version of this game makes the new scenario in definitive experience. Taking the versatility of the Nintendo Switch console, this game allows you to use either the touchscreen or the Joy-cons as control options. Plus, a two-player co-op mode will be available on the game. This will make your favorite JRPG travel remains to a cult classic favorite.

NEW UPDATES:
The cult-classic JRPG will have a potential sequel soon according to the developer notes on Nintendo’s official blog. The notes include director Tatsuya Kando, music composer Takeharu Ishimoto and the creative producer Tetsuya Nomura.

I’ve had a chance to attend various events in different countries during the 11 years following the release of The World Ends with You. On many occasions, I have been interviewed by both the fans and the media, who have told me how much they want me to make a sequel for The World Ends with You. We’ve been looking for an opportunity, and there were a few times we tried to get it started, but time passed without it ever coming to realization.
There are a number of implications behind this Final Remix version. In addition to my intention of making this my last time working with the original game, I think this is the final chance for creating a path to the next step, which I’ve had ideas about since the first launch 11 years ago. Many thanks to everyone for supporting ongoing efforts.
So, maybe we will have to wait for the official announcement for this sequel, folks? Well, the least we can do is to wait for the announcement. Patience is a virtue.
