God of War is an action-adventure video game developed by Santa Monica Studios and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. This is the eighth installment in the God of War franchise that is loosely based on Norse Mythology.

God of War has been great since its release as tons of game critics, game websites, and gaming news agencies praised it for its narrative, world design, art direction, graphics, characters, and combat system. After several years since the protagonist, Kratos, took his vengeance against the Olympians gods and after his final battle against his father Zeus, he settles with his young son Atreus in the world of Norse gods. The world of Norse gods is a land inhabited by monsters and warriors. He teaches his beloved son to survive the Norse world. During the training with Atreus, he realizes that his son learns more about his complex past especially his divine origin. How would things go when Atreus learns that he’s a God?

Cuphead

The next to the list is The Game Awards 2017 Best Independent Game, Cuphead. Cuphead is a run and gun indie video game developed and published by StudioMDHR last September 29, 2017. As you look through the game’s art and graphics, you can see the inspiration to the rubber hose style of animation that was used in cartoons during the 1930s. The rubber hose style animation is evident in Walt Disney Animation for example.

Even though Cuphead is an independent game, it garnered multiple awards including 2017 Golden Joystick Awards for Best Visual Design and Best Xbox Game of the Year, The Game Awards 2017 in Best Art Direction, Best Independent Game, and Best Debut Indie Game, 2018 DICE Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Animation, Outstanding Achievement in Art Direction and Outstanding Achievement in Original Music Composition.

Don’t deal with the devil. You control the animated characters Cuphead and his brother Mugman to battle through several levels in the strange worlds to acquire new weapons, powerful moves and discover secrets as you pay your debt to the devil. The Last of Us Remastered

The third on the list is Naughty Dog‘s masterpiece, The Last of Us Remastered. This is an action-adventure survival horror video game published by Sony Computer Entertainment. It was released for PlayStation 3 last June 14, 2013, then the remastered version was released last July 2014.

This is indeed the Game of the Year 2013 as The Last of Us received critical acclaims with its narrative, gameplay, visual design, sound design, characterization and the depiction of female characters. With these elements, The Last of Us became of one of the best-selling games on the PlayStation 3. This also received numerous awards including multiple Game of the Year awards in different gaming publication, critics and game award ceremonies. In over 200 Game of the Year Awards, this game is one of the most awarded video games in history.

The game sets in the fictional United Kingdom. It features over 450 licensed cars which makes the largest and most diverse Horizon car roster ever in the franchise with over 100 licensed manufacturers from various car companies. Far Cry 5

The next on our list is the Ubisoft‘s Far Cry 5. This is an action-adventure first-person shooter developed by Ubisoft Montreal and Ubisoft Toronto and published by Ubisoft. It was released last March 27, 2018 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Far Cry 5 has mostly positive critical reception upon release even though there was a controversy on the political conflicts as the game was heavily inspired by socio-political events. Despite that, the game critics praised the open world design, visuals, and soundtrack. The game is a commercial success and became the fastest-selling title in Far Cry franchise as it grosses over $310 million on its first week of release.

The game sets in the fictional Hope County, Montana. A preacher named Joseph Seed has risen above. He believes that he has been chosen by God to protect the residents of the Hope Country from danger. The danger is the Collapse, a global catastrophe that collapses the society in the future, However Joseph Seed is a radical preacher as he manages his cult which is the Eden’s Gate. He also takes the title “The Father” as he’s the Father of the Hope County for the Eden’s Gate. You take the role of a rookie sheriff’s deputy who is part to arrest Joseph Seed. However, there are truths beneath this cult. How will you manage as you discover the secrets of the Eden’s Gate and Joseph Seed‘s true nature?
