Persona 5 is the sixth entry in the Persona series and is part of the Megami Tensei franchise. Atlus published Persona 5 in Japan in September 2016. The following year, in April, Deep Silver got the publishing rights to release the game globally.

From the time of the game’s release, the title received high praise and feedback from the gaming community and media. Persona 5 received numerous nominations and awards from various year-end accolades. One of which is The Game Awards 2017 in Los Angeles, USA. The title got nominated for all four sessions of Game of the Year and got the Best Role-Playing Game award.

Since then, Persona 5 was known to be one of the greatest role-playing games of all time. The game exceeded a 2.2 million cumulative sales worldwide, making it the best-selling entry in the overall Megami Tensei franchise.
