Before Nintendo even rocks the E3 2019, it already dedicated a special presentation as their pre-E3 salvo. And this was to showcase the two upcoming games, Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield. During the Pokémon Direct stream, it was later on revealed regarding the new gameplay, new Pokémons, battle mechanics, and other interesting things that you should know about as a Pokémon fan.

Release Date

Legendaries

Paralleling to the game’s name of Pokémon Shield and Sword are the new legendary Pokémon that we’ll certainly crave to have. These new legendaries represent the titles, Sword and Shield. Hence, we have Zamazenta embodying the shield design and Zacian for the sword which we can find in its mouth.

 

 

Story Details And Characters

Galar, a new region in Pokémon Sword & Shield, boasts a big deal for Pokémon battles. Based on the trailer, the “gyms” are in fact gyms where we can find numerous audiences watching the battle as you take down the Gym Leaders. It was even mentioned by Pokémon Company that in Galar, “Pokemon battles are regarded as the most popular form of entertainment.” So it’s definitely a spectacle to watch!

You’ll also meet the current Galar Champion, Leon. Trainers will also meet Hop, Leon’s younger brother. Let’s get to know them more.

 

And oh, let’s not also forget Milo, the kind-hearted Grass-type Gym Leader in Galar.

 

New Gen 8 Pokemon

Your journey in the Galar Region wouldn’t be complete without the new Gen 8 Pokémons that you’ll meet along the way. Now let’s get to know more about Gossifleur, Wooloo, Drednaw, and Corviknight.

Gossifleur, Pokémon Sword & Shield, e3 2019 You’ll meet the Flowering Pokémon, Gossifleur, in Pokémon Sword & Shield! It favors lands with clean water and air, and its pollen has a healing effect that was used as medicine for sick children. It travels long distances by getting blown along by the wind.

When Gossifleur evolves into the Cotton Bloom Pokémon, Eldegoss, its head becomes covered in thick cotton fluff! The fluff is a cushion that helps to protect Eldegoss’s head from damage.

Fun fact: The tiny seeds attached to its cotton fluff are said to be highly nutritious!

wooloo, Pokémon Sword & Shield, e3 2019 The white fur that covers their bodies grows throughout their lives, and it will fully grow back in three months even if the Wooloo has been completely shorn. The fur is used for clothing and carpets and the like, and it is very popular as a specialty product of the Galar region.
Pokémon Sword & Shield, e3 2019, drednaw The vicious Bite Pokémon, Drednaw, will make its debut in Pokémon Sword & Shield! It takes a skilled Trainer to tame this Pokémon. Its jagged fangs are strong enough to bite through rock & iron. While it has a heavy rock shell, its well-developed muscles allow it to move quickly.
Corviknight, Pokémon Sword & Shield, e3 2019 Corviknight is the dashing lord of the skies, said to be the strongest Pokémon living in the skies of the Galar region. It has superb flying skills & high intelligence. Because of this, many of them work for Galar Taxi, transporting people from town to town.

 

Dynamax

One of the best game elements that we have seen on Pokémon Sword & Shield is the Dynamax. It is a temporary transformation that can be activated in a given battle as a move. Using the Dynamax will allow your Pokémon to grow as giants with maximized power.
