Paranoia: Happiness is Mandatory is an upcoming darkly humorous CRPG according to its publisher Bigben Interactive and developers Cyanide Studio and Black Shamrock. It is adapted from the notable tabletop game, Paranoia, which was first published in 1984.

The game is set in a retro-futuristic world filled with technologies that takes place in humanity’s last heavenly refuge, the Alpha Complex, which was under the control of Friend Computer. It is a place where everyone is cheerful and happy. Questioning the kindness of Friend Computer is an act of treason and treason is punishable by summary execution. For example, refusing to drink your daily dose of Bouncy Bubble Beverage is an act of treason.

In the game, you need to lead a team of four Troubleshooters with uncertain loyalty. They obey orders from Friend Computer, a paranoid and irrational artificial intelligence. Beware, though, because traitors are everywhere scheming to destroy the Alpha complex and the peaceful way of life. The troubleshooters’ job is to find trouble and shoot it. Friend Computer keeps an eye on you. Be alert for any sign of treason and you will be rewarded for a prompt and heroic action in defense of Alpha Complex.

Friend Computer welcomes you to the Alpha Complex. You are now appointed as a Troubleshooter with Red clearance! Your mission will be to unearth traitors of Alpha Complex and to neutralize them. Friend Computer will definitely reward you for your loyalty!
