Among the 40 titles installed on the western version of Mega Drive Mini, there are two masterpieces who are missing: Langrisser I and Langrisser II. Started in 1991, this popular series of strategy-RPG games can rival the more famous Fire Emblem who since its birth appeared only on Nintendo game systems.
Built by five main chapters, the last of which, released in 1998 for Sega Saturn; in almost 30 years the heroic figures of Langrisser made their appearance also on mobile devices, audio drama, manga, and many other side projects.
Illustrated by Satoshi Urushihara (Queen’s Blade, Legend of Lemnear) all the Langrisser’s episodes have been praised for their non-linear stories and revolutionary game systems in which the player can command big armies, some of which can go up to 30 soldiers, making it one of the most inspiring series for the next generations of game creators. In Langrisser: The Descendants of Light; the prince Garett is sent by his father, king Alfador, to get the mystic sword known as Langrisser. Wielding this powerful relic, the small reign of Baltia can have a chance to win the unequal struggle against the evil Dalsis Empire who invaded it showing no mercy to all its inhabitants; traveling through the world, prince Garett will be forced to recruit valiant allies to get the sword before all is lost.
In here, you must not only fight against the Dalsisan troops led by the God of Darkness Chaos, but also against time; level-up, command your army, and fight extensively to bring peace among your small reign to live happily forever after all… wield the destinies of thousands of people in your hands.
Langrisser II, instead, is set 200 years after the first episode. The battle of prince Garett has gone down in history, but from the folds of darkness a new threat is rising… his name is Bernhardt, the Kaiser of Rayguard Empire. Joining the forces with the Dark Prince Böser; their mission is to conquer and rule over the whole continent of El Sallia. Once again only the chosen Langrisser sword’s wielder can save the world from the ruin fighting a new war between light, and darkness.

Unlike all the other strategy-RPGs, Langrisser introduced many innovations that became actual “trademarks” of the series such as multi-branched stories, relationship systems, and much more. Obviously, all of them are still present in Langrisser I & II for PS4 & NS; enriched by preciously improved HD graphic-style, and soundtrack this collection rages for a bright future.
Revitalizing the tactical turned based RPG genre; playing with this you can create deep emotional bonds between you, and your allies to unlock the fullest potential of your armies. The more you will win, and the more level points you will get, use them wisely to expand the skills of each unit unveiling their secret abilities; for example do you prefer the melee fights? Then battle hard to unleash the Barbarian’s Way of the Sword. The sky is your limit? Well, strike the enemies from above choosing the Hawk Knight class, but if you suffer vertigo… don’t look down. Or are you just at one with nature? If so, the Shaman’s spells will give you a big hand. With dozens of classes at your disposal, Langrisser I & II for PS4 & NS are still the best examples of how a  tactic-RPG game should be made.
