Last March, a report saying that a new Mario game will be released this year, circulated the internet. With various assumptions and opinions going on, Nintendo made a nice move. So, instead of revealing the new Mario game via a Nintendo Direct, the company decided to unveil it out of the blue.

And yes, the papercraft role-playing game series, Paper Mario is back! For the very first time in the series, Mario will embark on a new journey on the Nintendo Switch. Yes, you read that right. The N64 classic game is finally coming to the modern console of Nintendo as Paper Mario: The Origami King.

And guess what? It’s coming sooner than everyone’s expected. Nintendo uncovered that Paper Mario: The Origami King will land on Switch on July 17th. Furthermore, the announcement was accompanied by a reveal trailer that lasted for over 2 minutes. So, are you ready to take on a new adventure in the paper-thin world but a fun-filled adventure in Paper Mario: The Origami King?

More so, here’s how Nintendo describes the game’s story:

Mario and Luigi receive an invitation from Princess Peach to attend an origami festival and excitedly hurry to Toad Town…but something’s amiss. After investigating the eerily empty town, the duo finds a fearsome (and folded) Princess Peach—she’s been turned into origami by King Olly, ruler of the Origami Kingdom! With five giant streamers under his control, King Olly binds Princess Peach’s Castle and transports it to a distant mountain as part of his plan to re-fold the world.
On his journey to liberate Peach’s Castle and repair the ravaged paper landscape, Mario meets Olivia, King Olly’s sister, and the two join forces to put a stop to Olly’s origami onslaught. Even Bowser falls victim to Olly’s plot when his minions are turned into origami Folded Soldiers and betray their Koopa king, forcing him to ally with Mario and Olivia!

【GAMEPLAY】

Also, Nintendo announced that the Switch version includes new features. First is the ring-based battles that transforms battles into a kind of puzzle. And second is a new feature called 1,000-Fold Arms ability that will be added to the game. Ring-based battles challenged you to strategically line up Bowser’s minions to maximum damage. Meanwhile, 1,000-Fold Arms ability can be used in specific spots to interact with the landscape to pull, peel, hit, and more!

So, get ready to battle evil Folded Soldiers with your new partner, Olivia! Help them save Princess Peach’s castle from the clutches of King Olly. For sure, this comedy-filled adventure will definitely be enjoyed by long-time fans and newcomers alike.
