In 1981 on Weekly Shonen Jump has appeared a new series created by a manga artist called Takahashi Yōichi: Captain Tsubasa!
During the years it became one of the most popular, and long-running manga ever appeared in this magazine. The success story of Tsubasa Ōzora reached a lot of countries and gave the inspiration to work hard for achieving a dream to millions of people worldwide.
Divided into several narrative arcs spanned in almost four decades; Captain Tsubasa portrayed the life of this champion from the very beginning to the victory of the prestigious World Cup. As one of the most beloved sports series of all time; the stories of Tsubasa, Genzo, Kojiro, Taro, and all the other protagonists appeared also in anime, novels, dramas, and also video games.

The first gaming incarnation of Captain Tsubasa has been released in 1988 for Nintendo Famicom; introducing a hybrid & innovative soccer x RPG gameplay mechanics, this original game captured the interest of hundreds thousand players not only in Japan but also abroad where it has been sold as Tecmo Cup Soccer Game.

Providing several differences to the Japanese version; in this one, Tsubasa was replaced by a new soccer player called Robin Field, and also the anime theme songs have been substituted with some anonymous music tracks who make it an almost different game compared to the Japanese counterpart.
