Black Panther – Yibambe! Yibambe! Yibambe!

Created by Stan Lee & Jack Kirby, and appearing for the very first time on Fantastic Four #52, Black Panther is the personification of Black Pride!
Symbol of an actual cultural revolution, since the beginning he was (and is) strictly connected with African history, thought, art, poetry, and language. Obviously like the majority of superheroes also Black Panther has a dual identity that makes a single individual. From a superficial point of view, the hometown of this hero is according to the words of Reed Richards “…so primitive, so underdeveloped…” but the leader of the Fantastic Four doesn’t know that like the real Africa, also the fictional country of the Wakanda is rich with resources, for example, the extremely rare metal known as Vibranium.

Leading the philosophical concept of “Blackness” towards a new level of awareness, it’s no coincidence that Lee & Kirby haven’t portrayed an African-American super-person, but an African king that represents millions of people in a sort of pop pan-Africanism. Called also the African Avengers, for decades he has been considered an outsider inside the team, Black Panther is regal, sophisticated, and also urbane. Both he and all the people at his service are not warriors that use spears, but all of them use hi-tech devices to protect their whole continent. Due to his strength, virtue, wisdom, and charisma; Thor requested him to become the Earth representative in the Council of Worlds.
Infused with Machiavellian concepts, in the comic books, T’Challa is a pragmatic king that owns the five qualities that a ruler must have, he’s merciful, faithful, humane, upright, and religious.

The sun will never set on the Wakandan empire!

With the release of the new Wakanda Forever movie, we can see that the Wakandan women are not ordinary ones They have positions of power and they achieved absolute gender equality with men. Shuri has a brilliant mind that is used to develop new technology, Okoye is the greatest warrior of Wakanda, and Nakia has physical and mental capacities equal to T’Challa. Displaying true wisdom and a big dose of courage, all of them play the roles that are traditionally owned by males.

This is because Wakanda is an extremely advanced country that comes from a warring past. And to surpass the rest of the ordinary countries outside, the population started to transcend sex differences to build a new national identity where men and women can cooperate together to break down the barriers of political ideas and spiritual diversity in name of the prosperity and technological advancement. Gender differences are irrelevant to the achievement of Wakandan goals.
In a few words, we can say that the future is female. the future is Wakanda!

Offering the world good music, great movies, exceptional toys, and much more. Wakanda is probably the best country in the world.
Go beyond the comic books and the movies, Black Panther is a different kind of superhero. He’s a symbol of Africa and its people. Thanks to him we can better understand what happening around us from a political and sociological point of view. He’s the superhero that not only fights against the supervillains but also fights many political battles to create a fairer world for the next generations!
