Born on the Japanese computer NEC PC-9801 in 1996, the Touhou Project is a popular, and beloved series of doujin games developed by the Team Shanghai Alice’s sole member, ZUN which creates all the graphics, music, and programming.

All the episodes of this long saga that includes shooters, adventures, and fighting games set in the Gensokyo, a country where humans and yōkai coexists. The protagonist is Reimu Hakurei, a Miko (shrine maiden) that guard the magical barrier that separates our world to Gensokyo, helped by her faithful friends, her mission is to fight and push back all the supernatural entities that want to invade the Earth, causing mischiefs and troubles among people. Inserted into the Guinness World Records in October 2010 as the “most prolific fan-made shooter series“, during the years Touhou Project became a proper media franchise with books, music, light novels, and manga!

In Touhou Kobuto V: Burst Battle, Reimu is, as always, working at the Hakurei Shrine, one day she accidentally heard a discussion about the people who visit it about the apparition of a vampire that is recruiting yōkai to assemble a hellish army of terrifying monsters to start attacking the people. Soon after, the maiko goes to the Scarlet Devil Mansion – a European-style mansion owned by her vampire’s friend Remilia Scarlet – to investigate this new threat, and about the reasons behind all the attacks.

Controlling one of the nine occult detectives, each one with her own story, you’ll enter in an ultra-fancy 3D world full of supernatural beings that must be stopped before they reach the Gensokyo’s barrier. Using bullets, melee attacks, or o-fuda cards, you’ll battle against a great number of bizarre yet cute creatures such as maids, yōkai, and angel-like beings in exciting 1-on-1 fast-paced bullet-hell battles. After defeating these powerful opponents, you’ll face the vampire leader and unveil the truth on all those tragic incidents. Featuring a new kind of super-fast high-flying combat style that will baffle your challenger, you can dash, glide, float, and jump to defeat all of them. This game will give you a unique exorcism experience.
