Blue-skinned GIs from the 2006 3rd-person shooter Rogue Trooper will be back in action this October 2017. And this year, the game will have an updated graphics as well as a tweaked gameplay. Are you ready for the Rogue Trooper Redux?

Rogue Trooper is based on the 2000 AD comic of the same name. It is considered as one of the games that shaped the cover-based shooter catch on. It is even launched before the rise of Uncharted and Gears of War.

Rogue Trooper Redux has faced a lot of upgrade since the time that its predecessor was first released 10 years ago. The blue-skinned soldier has definitely had more to offer now in Rogue Trooper Redux. This third-person shooter features a cover mechanics as well as a smattering of weapons which include both traditional and sci-fi. You will play as Rogue, a  “Genetic Infantryman,” or GI for short, the story follows his struggles in a massive war on the fictional planet Nu-Earth. Despite Rogue being a super soldier, he is also prone to destruction. Hence, you will need to make use of the cover system and use the available weapons for you to be able to finish the game.

In an exclusive interview with Express.Co.UK, Rebellion CEO Jason Kingsley revealed the real reason for Rogue Trooper’s return.

 

The original game was very successful. Gameplay is very strong. It’s one of the first cover-based shooters, or certainly amongst the first wave of cover-based shooters, but the graphics these days were looking a little creaky around the edges. I think the graphic quality was perhaps stopping people from engaging with the gameplay.

However, if there is one thing that players must be particular in playing Rogue Trooper Redux would be the health system of the game. This is so since the game came from an era when health regeneration was not actually the norm. Thus, it is important to save the limited number of health packs that you accumulate along the way. It is also important to use these by the time that your health is at its lowest.
