Nintendo™ Switch – US, EU, ASIA & JAPAN
The upcoming Pokémon RPG exclusively for Nintendo Switch Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee are set to release this November 2018. Yet, the Pokémon Company teased us for some new game details plus a new trailer. The company announced the distinctions between the two versions, gameplay battle against trainers, the famous Kanto region, cities, and Pokémon gyms, interaction between you and your own Pokémon and play time with your friends.
It’s now the time to take a look at the finer details to the world that fans can expect and experience when the games release on November 16. See the details below.
Difference Between The Two Versions
Although the storyline is similar in both versions, of course, there are still differences. First and foremost, your partner is different. Either you choose Pikachu or Eevee, and it depends on the version you choose. However, the rarity of the Pokémon that you encounter will be different depending on the version that you’ll be playing. For example, Pokémon like Oddish, Sandshrew, and Growlithe will only appear in the wild bushes in the Let’s Go Pikachu version. Meanwhile, Bellsprout, Vulpix, Meowth will found only in the wild in Let’s Go Eevee.
Catching Pokémon
If you played the previous Pokémon RPG, you will realize that it works differently in the Switch version. As you go on the journey and wander around, you will encounter wild Pokémons the field of tall grass. If you want that Pokémon, just catch ’em all! Once you touch the Pokémon, you’ll get a chance to throw your Poké Balls similar to the Pokémon GO. Of course, this will not be easy to catch. The Pokémon will intimidate you but don’t get too distracted. Use your Joy-Cons and estimate the timing to throw the Poké Ball. If you play in the handheld version, you’ll move the system and throw the ball by pressing the A Button.
The chances of catching the Pokémon increases depending on your accuracy in terms of time and location of your Pokéball hitting the target. If you throw the Poké Ball in a small arena and inside the moving ring, the chances are high. Take note, the color of the ring shows the difficulty level of catching a Pokémon. The color green means it’s easy and the color red means difficult.
Battling Pokémon Trainers
Remember it’s not just the Pokémon you will battle against in Pokémon: Let’s Go games. During your journey as a Pokémon master, some Pokémon Trainers will challenge you to a battle. If you see a Pokémon Trainer in the field, prepare yourself as it’s time to battle. Of course, the battle function is like the old times in Pokémon RPG. Nostalgic to the feels especially to the longtime fans of Pokémon RPG. In addition to selecting moves, you can swap your Pokémon if it’s about to faint or use an item to support your Pokémon. If you defeat a Pokémon Trainer, you will gain Exp. points. Money is involved when you win the battle or a Pokéball is at stake.
The Kanto Region
Do you where the Kanto Region is? This region is located at the east of Johto. This is the first region introduced and this is the setting of Pokémon: Let’s Go games. Plus, this is also based on Pokémon Yellow: Special Pikachu Edition. We get to see the visual evolution of the Kanto Region in the past 20 years. Kanto Region is filled with small towns, cities, mountains, rivers, forest, and seas. You roam around on the variety of places and of course, various Pokémon to find in their different habitats. You begin the journey in the famous Pallet Town, a small civic center that’s also the home of your rival.
Pokémon fans will know Professor Oak. The professor who gives you a valuable and an important gift before you set your foot on a journey. He will give you a Pokédex. Pokédex is a high-tech encyclopedia that automatically records data on new species of Pokémon that you catch. Will you able to complete your Pokédex? Hmm, let’s see.
Cities and Pokémon Gyms
To become the greatest Pokémon master, you need to battle the Pokémon Gym Leaders in each town. After you leave Pallet Town, you make your way to Pewter City. This city is the home of the Pewter Museum of Science. You’ll also meet the Pewter City Gym Leader, Brock. He’s also referred to as the rock-solid Pokémon Trainer. Before entering the Gym, you must meet a certain condition such as what type and level of Pokémon you will use. Once you qualify on the conditions, you’ll face off a series of challenging battles until you reach to the Gym Leader to battle and to earn the Gym Badge.
After defeating Brock, you will arrive in Cerulean City. This city is bordered by waterways. The Cerulean City Gym Leader is Misty. And you need to challenge her for a battle. Misty is an expert with Water-type Pokémons. Strategize your moves to defeat her and earn the Cerulean City Gym Badge!
Interact with Pokémon
Of course, it’s fun to enjoy the company of your Pokémon. In Pokémon: Let’s Go games, you can enjoy a little playtime with Pikachu or Eevee to increase and to strengthen your bond with them. Your partner Pokémon will sit on your arm, and it allows you to pet, to feed and to tickle it. In this way, you and your Pokémon are getting closer as ever.
You can dress up your Pokémon in different outfits. Give it also accessories and change its hairstyle to dress just like you. Coordinate your wardrobes to match the outfits with yours or let’s mix and match various items to give your Pokémon its own style. Any Pokémon in the game can be your traveling companion. Don’t let them stuck inside the Pokéball. Let it see the wonders of the world as you let them out on their Pokéballs and walk with you to make the journey even more fun. Different Pokémon can travel in unique ways. Some Pokémon will let you ride them or move you faster around the Pokémon world.
Play With Friends
One of the things that makes the Pokémon world engaging is the ability to let use the Support Play. This allows two players to explore the world together! You can increase the chance of catching a wild Pokémon by throwing Pokéballs at the same as you Support Trainer during Support Play. Of course, join as a Support Trainer by waving the second controller. It also gives you an advantage in battling Pokémon battles against other Trainers. Team up with your friend, and you’ll be able to control a Pokémon and command it during a match.
There are two communication features available on Pokémon: Let’s Go games. One is the local communication that allows connecting two nearby Nintendo Switch consoles. Second, the internet connection which lets you connect some players who may be far away. Plus, you can trade Pokémons with your friends. In available communication features, trade your Pokémon to complete your Pokédex.
