If you are, well Merge Games and Headup Games will release Truberbrook or Trüberbrook this March 2019 for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. This game was funded via a Kickstarter campaign for $93,380. Then, Bildundtonfabrik, an independent studio based in Berlin, Germany, finally decided to bring this mystery adventure game to life.
The game sets in the 1960s rural Germany where in the country was in the midst of the Cold War. For a brief background, the Cold War is the geopolitical tension between the Soviet Union and the United States after the events in World War II. With this, Germany was divided by the allies for the Soviet Union and the United States.
Now, let’s go back to the game, as the setting is in rural Germany during the 1960s, you take the role of a young American physicist, Tannhauser, in his late twenties who won a trip in the area of Trüberbrook. Despite the old aura of the village, Trüberbrook still retains its beauty in the middle of the densely forested countryside of West Germany. While Tannhauser is busy doing his Ph.D. thesis, something strangely happens on the German homeland that turns into a Sci-fi mystery adventure. With this, Tannhauser will separate first with his dissertation in quantum physics as he will save the world.
The distinctive feature of this game is the unique visual representation and the graphics wherein the whole set from the scenery and the backdrops will be built in a real miniature scale models. This gem will be tackled in a modern approach with a mix of the classic point-and-click just like any adventure games out there. If you watch the famous Netflix TV series, Stranger Things, well, folks the aura is somehow similar to this game. With the elements of German folklore as also tackles the themes such as love, friendship, loyalty, rootlessness, self-discovery, and monster hunting, Truberbrook will surely satisfy you to play it more.
According to NintendoSoup, both the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch will include a travel guide. However, it’s not an ordinary flyer just like you see when you travel but this is a proper 24-pages long booklet.
The travel guide contains the following:
- An overview for the resort town plus a small map chartering the area
- Interesting places, as well as tips for accommodation
- Who is who: Introducing Trüberbrook’s unique villagers
